Hayatt Usman has contributed to Spoon University through the National Writer Program, where she covers food trends, news, and stories that highlight the role food plays in shaping community and culture.
She is in her senior year at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a concentration in Digital Media and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Hayatt also writes for Laurier’s Her Campus chapter, creating content on lifestyle, beauty, and wellness, and contributes to the chapter’s social media marketing team with a focus on Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter.
Previously, Hayatt worked as a Behaviour Counsellor in the Waterloo region with Correctional Service Canada, where she facilitated communication-based programs for incarcerated women and completed detailed report writing to support case documentation, program evaluation, and participant progress.
In her free time, Hayatt enjoys discovering new music, staying active through gym workouts, and getting lost in a good book.
